Bookkeeper

A full-time bookkeeper for less than most firms' year-end bill

  • Xero & QuickBooks
  • Full-time from ~£1,820/month
  • Live 8am–4pm UK
  • No recruitment fee

What a full-time bookkeeper actually handles

For most small firms this is 15–20 hours a week of work you're currently doing at night.

  • Daily bank reconciliation in Xero or QuickBooks
  • Sales invoices raised, sent and logged
  • Purchase invoices coded, matched and filed
  • Supplier statement reconciliations
  • Credit control — overdue accounts chased weekly, not quarterly
  • Expense processing and receipt matching via Dext or similar
  • VAT return preparation and supporting reconciliations
  • Monthly management pack ready for your accountant
  • Debtor and cashflow reporting you can actually act on
  • Payroll data preparation for your bureau or accountant

Common questions

Can a bookkeeper in the Philippines work on Xero or QuickBooks?

Yes. Both are cloud platforms, so your bookkeeper logs in exactly as a UK-based one would, with permissions you set and can revoke at any time. Philippine finance professionals are widely experienced in Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and Dext.

Do I still need my accountant?

Yes, and you'll probably pay them less. Your accountant does year-end, tax and statutory accounts. A bookkeeper does the daily and weekly work that feeds them. What happens in most small businesses is nobody does the bookkeeping, so the accountant reconstructs it at year end at accountant rates — which is the most expensive way to do it.

Can they prepare our VAT returns?

They prepare the return and the supporting reconciliations for your review and submission. Final responsibility for what's filed stays with you and your accountant, as it would with any bookkeeper.

What about access to our bank and financial data?

Access is read-only or role-limited wherever possible, granted through your systems and revocable instantly. NDAs are signed as standard, staff are background-checked and work happens in a managed office environment rather than at home.
